In this assignment, I took pictures of my littlest brother's birthday party. On Saturday my brother, Tate, had his 9th birthday party at Dave and Busters. Considering the interesting location, I decided to photograph the event. With the dark background and the neon lights, my pictures turned out a lot different than pictures I've taken before. What was hard was getting the exposure right because with the bright and the dark it was hard to find a happy medium. I not only had to somehow take all these pictures, but I also had to wrangle three 9 year-old boys. In the end, I consider the day a success with newfound knowledge on how to deal with neon lights and a happy birthday boy. Aperture: f 2.8

Before: After:In this assignment we were given a picture of a car to retouch in photoshop. We were given the original photo and a retouched version of the car in order to have something to emulate. This assignment was very independent with much less instructions and more freedom. The end result turned out rather well even though some things took some more time to do. IN the end, we were given a much more in-depth introduction to photoshop and I'm excited to learn more about it in the future.
In this assignment I took photos of animals. As my subject, I used my dog, Theo. It was a really foggy day so I tried to optimize my settings to brighten up my photos. An when that didn't work I fixed them up in post-production. I let my dog outside and followed him around with my camera and just took a bunch of pictures. I had to use treats sometimes to manipulate him. He was refusing to stay outside so I had to constantly bribe him. In this assignment I really focused on quantity over quality. I'm used to taking a handful of good pictures and not taking over a hundred pictures without deleting the "bad" ones. I found when taking pictures of my dog it was much easier to take a multitude of pictures at once and go back later to weed through them all. With my subject constantly moving, I didn't really have time to go back and look at my pictures until the end. Overall this assignment went a lot faster than my first one and it was still boatloads of fun. Aperture: f 2.8
Shutter Speed: 1/1250 ISO: 200 Edits: Increased Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks, Clarity, Vibrance, and Saturation In this assignment I took portraits of people. I used my two brothers and my friend as subjects. I messed around with the lighting and took my pictures at different times of the day. I took them at midday, evening, and night. In order to take pictures at night I had to use my little brother lamp to light my subject. This allowed for me to see an evolution of the light from white to yellow. This also gave me the chance to take similar shots in different lighting in order to gain different effects. I also practiced giving my subjects looking room in a shot. This gave me some fun shots especially when my subjects were looking up. Overall this assignment was a lot of fun to shoot and helped me experiment with the effect of different types of light. Shutter Speed: 1/100 ISO: 200 Edits: Increased Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks, Clarity, Vibrance, and Saturation In this assignment, in order to learn more about photoshop, we took a selfie and modeled it after Andy Warhol's famous paintings that started the Pop Art movement. We practiced using crop, adding layers, changing hue, and using rulers. This, overall, was a great introduction to using photoshop and I'm looking forward to using it in the future.
Assignment Description:In this assignment we learned about eleven elements of composition. These eleven are some of many elements of composition, but this helps us get an idea of what to incorporate when taking a good picture. These elements are rule of thirds, pattern, symmetry, texture, depth of field, lines, framing, perspective, space, balance, and color. What I've learned:In this assignment I have learned how different cameras take different types of pictures. My family camera has really sharp focus and a very shallow depth of field when I shoot in full automatic. When shooting on the school camera the depth of field is very wide and many pictures came out blurry or with a dull focus. Though I was still able to salvage a handful of pictures, I was still pretty bummed when some of my pictures didn't turn out the way I wanted. Because of this I also learned sometimes you have to take a lot picture over and over if order to gain a good photograph.
